Choosing what house alarm to buy can be a daunting decision so we have produced a guide to try to help you decide what you need in an alarm.
Firstly consider whether or not your will be able to use a wireless or wired house alarm system. This decision is really based on:
-
Whether or not you feel you can wire in the house alarm yourself
-
Whether or not it is practical to wire in an alarm, for example would you need to redecorate afterwoulds?
The next decision to make is whether or not you want your house alarm to be connected to a contact centre, as this will dictate your budget and you will also need to choose an alarm that is compatible with this type of service.
To help with this decision when purchasing a house alarm, consider your movements, are you away from your property regularly overnight? Are you away mainly during the day? Do you have neighbours? are they at home when your not?
The real benefit of this type of alarm is that if your alarm goes off an operator will call your property for a security code. If no code is given or no answer recieved they will contact the police. If no one hears your alarm or answers the call then the benefit of it to some degree may be lost.
Consider where you want to place the alarm and what the access points to your property are. For example you may live in a flat and in this care want the a motion detector in the hallway by the door, and window and door sensors added rather than having motion detectors in all of the rooms.
Consider whether or not you want to protect the whole house, or just entry points or a mixture or the 2. The more sensors required the higher the cost of the alarm and the more work involved in fitting the alarm - however also remember it will make your house more secure.
